What is this game?

Daily Letter Hunt is a solo daily word puzzle with a distinct vertical guess history. Each guessed letter shows whether it is in the right spot, in the word elsewhere, or not used in the answer.

How to play

  1. 1 Open the daily puzzle and enter a five-letter guess.
  2. 2 Read each letter tile: right spot means correct position, in word means present elsewhere, and miss means not in the word.
  3. 3 Use the vertical guess history to narrow the hidden answer.
  4. 4 Finish in six guesses or fewer, then copy a spoiler-free result.

Rules

  • There is one counted daily puzzle per day.
  • After finishing the daily puzzle, you can play extra practice words that do not change daily stats or win distribution.
  • You get up to 6 guesses.
  • Every guess must be a real word with the correct word length.

Scoring

  • The goal is to solve the daily answer in six guesses or fewer.
  • Each day has one official puzzle.
  • Local stats track games played, wins, streaks, and solved-game distribution in this browser.
  • Practice words do not change stats or share results.

Tips and strategy

  • Start with a word that uses different common letters.
  • Treat right-spot letters as fixed positions for every later guess.
  • Move in-word letters into new positions instead of repeating the same pattern.
  • Use miss clues to remove letters from your next guess.

Example round

If the hidden word is PLANT and you guess PAINT, the first and last letters are in the right spot, shared letters are marked in word, and unused letters receive a miss clue.

  • p right spot
  • a miss
  • i in word
  • n miss
  • t right spot

Strategy tips

  • Start with a guess that uses common vowels and different consonants.
  • Treat right-spot letters as fixed anchors for the next guess.
  • Move in-word letters into new positions before repeating a full pattern.
  • Use miss clues to remove letters from later guesses.
